Veilspinners are an species of ethereal arachnid-like beasts that maintain the barrier between the Material Plane, and the Astral Plane and Ethereal Plane. These beasts live on the borders of the Ethereal and Astral planes, spinning massive webs that occasionally catch wayward souls that have departed the Material Plane. Veilspinners occasionally pass into the Material Plane following after revived souls who were caught in their webs. When they pass over they appear to be translucent and emit a soft white glow.
Should you be attacked by one of these creatures while you still have your body they will appear to bite through your flesh without piercing it, but taking a piece of you soul in the process. To regain any taken pieces you must vanquish the veilspinner and eat it before it has a chance to digest your soul. Should your soul be entirely consumed in this manner, you cannot be revived or reincarnated, in the event that someone attempts to do so you body will revive, but it will be an empty husk that is vulnerable to possession by an otherworldly entity.
