The Decay

The 'Decay' is a consumable magic item, it is a fine scarlet powder that is water soluble. On flora the decay will cause the rapid deterioration of plant life, areas that the the decay has been used in can take several hundreds of years to recover naturally. It only takes a little bit of the decay touching a plant for it to begin withering, once the plant has withered they will often become animated, and attack animal life indiscriminately.

To create this weapon King Charles The Third, The Scarlet King had to go through a lengthy process of burning humans while driving a certain magical object through their heart before their die, thus binding their souls to the object, then suspending several of the 'soul stones' in a slimy goo in a sealed chamber while heating it to extreme temperatures and then finally crushing the resulting product into a fine powder.

He gained his title following The Splintering Schism, for his brutality, merciless slaughter of thousands of innocent people, and for his ultimate weapon, created from the souls of his victims.
