Exploitation of the Weakened Mind

The weakened can be anyone who has lost hope, and has an immense desire for rescue or freedom, or someone who has been pushed to the point of loosing or almost loosing their connection to reality. Demons, Devils, Gods, Fey, powerful creatures and eldritch beings beyond description take advantage of this disconnection from reality to impress their will upon the weakened, sometimes without the target even consciously knowing. These beings often make offerings of the power to escape their figurative or literal shackles in exchange for something later on, often leaving what will be required vague or untold. Deals made in this manner often benefit the patron more than the weakened, requiring them to go to extreme lengths to fulfill their end of the bargain. Those who have been chosen by these beings often become renown, either for their generosity, or their cruelty. Some become great sages, known for their boundless wisdom, while others become religious leaders, or bring destruction to the world around them.

The Great Abyss

Those that survived the walls of The Crimson Fog tell of an island with an endless chasm carved into the center of its land with channels of the ocean pouring into it. The closer you get to this island the more you feel drawn to its go upon its shores and descend into The Great Abyss that lies with in its thick jungles. Within the the overgrown thicket there is a civilization that live off the land and sends explorers to explore The Great Abyss to discover the secrets of the ancient people who lived within its depths. The Great Abyss can by separated into seven layers, each with their own maladies and challenging ecology.

Every layer of The Great Abyss is subject to the 'curse', a magical barrier that causes explorers to suffer various injuries that grow with severity the deeper you descend. While you simply descend you will not be afflicted by the curse, only suffering its attacks if you attempt to ascend back up to the surface. At first the effects are minor, such as an upset stomach and a headache, but grow far more severe at lower levels, some depths causing the rapid expansion of ones blood vessels starting at the extremities, eventually causing death when the curse reaches the heart. Ascending slowly with frequent breaks can mitigate the effects of the curse, allowing one to escape should they be willing to make the trek. Alternatively teleportation is a viable way of ascending without suffering the effects of the curse, however some regions of The Great Abyss mysteriously block the usage of magic for unknown reasons.

Grimdrasil

A once elegant and brilliantly designed city of the elves, great architects and craftsman filled the elven city with life and excellence, but not long after the war it all changed.

Grimdrasil used to the capitol of the elves on Disparate, used to, because the entire population of the city has disappeared without a trace as a thick smog and forest has over taken a majority of the forest and it's surrounding. Vicious things lurk in the massive woods.

Anyone who's dared go in has yet to come out.

Whatever is in there, it does not take kindly to strangers.
