Day 220
Day 221
Begins in 1322, current year is 1376
My name is Saline Huber, though that name is known to no one. I was born out of wedlock to the 2nd son of Duke Sarnet Stranton Avermect and his maid, whom he eloped with and fled through The Kingdom of Phantonis to seek refuge in Devlutte when he found out she was pregnant. Enraged by the embarrassment he faced from this affair my grandfather sent scores of assassins after them for years. Through the years my parents delved into the arcane arts, studying with under The Titan's Mind while living on the outskirts of Devlutte to keep us a safe as they could with invisibility and alarm spells.
Every other month or so we would move to another part of the city, often in a hurry to keep others from following us. Though they were not allowed to per the law, they taught me every spell their knew, and even game me my own grimoire when I was just 6 years old and barely able to even read. Some time later a few weeks before my ninth birthday my parents and I were caught in a trap set by one of their first and closest friends in the city for money.
Their friend turned them over to the assassins who were to take them back to The Kingdom of Thaed to be presented before my grandfather. However when we were caught my mother turned me invisible and told me to run and not look back. My parents ran in the opposite direction she told me to run. I barely made it to the end of the street when I heard a cut off scream from behind me which drew my attention. When I turned I saw my mother stuck to a wall by a large spike of ice, a lone cloaked man holding his arm out towards her, and my father laying on the ground surrounded by a dozen slain men.
Seeing my parents in trouble I immediately ran back towards them, drawing the attention of the lone wizard. Seeing him alone, I focused on casting any spell that could hurt him, pouring all of my willpower into it I saw my fathers daggers rise into the air as the man began to approach me. In a flash the daggers were whirling around the man, cutting him all over his body before a blade stuck him in the heart and he dropped to the ground.
On that day I left Devlutte and returned to the main continent, and began to earn money by doing chores for farmers and townsfolk while I move around. Its been many years since my parents died, and I have yet to encounter a single assassin coming after me, but the routine of never staying in the same place for more than a couple months has stuck with me regardless of the threat to my life. Throughout my travels I have learned many more spells, and one day when I have become powerful enough to challenge an army I will return to The Kingdom of Thaed and avenge my parents.
