The Witching Hat

A magical hat that belonged to an ancient witch who was killed for her heinous acts against the people of Burgdalin. During her life this witch practiced the art of breathing live into the inanimate, and greatly advanced the field of Somaturgy (golem making). She would often animate simple objects that she used in her everyday life, such as her cloths, so that they may dress her, her hearth, so that it will light when she asks, and her hat, so that it may keep the sun from her eyes. As she grew in power so did her golems independence, until one day they could make choices of their own. After her death many of her creations lost their desire to live, and simply let themselves erode away, the oldest of them all however, the witches hat, wanted to live, to create, and to learn; To learn to be a witch.

With its creator laying dead beneath them, the hat drew upon the decades it had spent watching its creator raise the inanimate, and create new life, and breathed life back into the body of its creator, fleeing from those who had slain it. This body did not last long as the hat did not know how to keep it truly alive, and so it molded a new body from mud and stone around the bones of its creator, and began its journey to becoming a person, and create a true body of its own. Centuries later, this hat still wanders Falyimoar under the name Thalia (Thalia Delair Falymos) the name of her creator, following leads of the ancient magic of the Gods, so that they may learn from them, and how they created true life.
